If you decide to leave IMVU, and wish to disable your account completely (also called removing it), you can do so in a few simple steps. Here’s how: 1) Go to the Account Settings page on www.imvu.com 2) Click “Delete my account” 3) Enter your password 4) Check the box next to I confirm this is an account permanently disabled by me 5) Click OK! Note that disabling your account does not destroy any purchases, items or content of yours. This is why we recommend you deactivate instead of deleting if you think you might return in the future – deactivating, as opposed to deleting, leaves all your data intact should you need access later (see below for details.) *If you would like your purchases back after a deleted account has been re-activated, please submit a support request by clicking here.
When you delete your account, it becomes completely inaccessible; however, please note that all purchases, items and content will remain on our servers. This means they can’t be accessed by anyone – including yourself! If you come back to IMVU at a later time, we will not have any record of your account, nor its history (such as purchases made) – that includes us here at IMVU HQ. We recommend deactivating instead of deleting if you think you might return in the future because deactivating allows for access to previously purchased items. *If you would like your purchases back after a deleted account has been re-activated, please submit a support request by clicking here.
Deactivating your account will temporarily disable it, but unlike deleting (see above) this leaves all of your data intact should you decide to return at a later time! Here’s how: 1) Go to the Account Settings page on www.imvu.com 2) Click “Deactivate my account” 3) Enter your password 4) Check the box next to I confirm this is an account being temporarily disabled 5) Click OK! *IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are deactivating your username and want to use that same name again in the future, we suggest you give it a few months before re-activating again. For example, if you deactivate your account in February and want to reactivate it in September, we suggest you wait until November or December to do so. This is because all usernames are available on a first-come first-serve basis and are taken very quickly upon deletion – meaning others could claim that name before you have the chance to activate it again.
If your account has been banned temporarily due to policies being violated, there’s an option for appealing this ban! In order to appeal a temporary ban of less than 7 days (under Section 5a of our Terms of Service Agreement ): 1) Go to the Account Settings page on www.imvu.com 2) Click “Appeal my banned account” 3) Enter your password 4) Check the box next to I confirm this is a ban appeal 5) Click OK! If your account has been permanently banned (meaning you will no longer be able to log in): 1) Go to the Account Settings page on www.imvu.com 2) Click “Permanently Appeal my banned account” 3) Enter your password 4) Check the box next to I confirm this is a permanent ban appeal 5) Click OK! Please note that if any personal information was included in an inappropriate username, that username might be deleted – so please remove it before appealing. To ensure we have correct contact information associated with your account, please provide an email address in case we need it.
There is no option to temporarily deactivate your IMVU account. The only options are to keep it active, or disable it.
If your account has been disabled for any of the following reasons, you can reactivate it by logging into the inbox associated with your IMVU email address.
